Since lockdowns have forced many of us to take our jobs home, the home office is back as an essential feature in home design — and it’s here to stay! With millions of professionals suddenly trading their professional workspaces for make-shift home setups, home offices are a more coveted feature of modern living than ever before.
The integration of working and living spaces has Canadians and people around the world reconsidering the function and design of their homes. While we tend to think of a home office as a dedicated room, that’s not necessarily the case. With or without a spare room, you can create a work-from-home space in any home.
Dedicating spaces to work is a great way to keep things organized as we transition into a new era of working from home. Bringing your notes, papers, laptop, headset, highlighters and coffee cup to and from the kitchen table spells disorganization and disaster. That’s why, if you ask us, the most coveted amenity of the post-pandemic home may be a more extravagant variation on the home office: the double (or even triple) office.
While this may sound overwhelming, and perhaps unnecessary, particularly to those with large homes, hear us out: with two or more separate workspaces within a household, spouses and kids are able to get through their respective working and schooling days with less friction.
Less friction = more harmony.
Organized workspaces = less stress.
That is the kind of 9-5 we’re looking for!
