Here are our top tips to creating your own minimalist bedroom:
Decluttering your space is key in creating a minimalist bedroom. Your first step should be setting aside some time to go through cupboards, drawers and shelves, asking yourself, do I need this? Or as Marie Kondo has taught us in her book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, does this spark joy?
Stick to a Neutral Palette. It’s no secret that we love a neutral colour scheme! One of the many reasons we adore neutrals is for their relaxing nature. If creating a minimalist space is your goal, neutrals are about to be your best friend — and for good reason. Neutrals are as versatile as they are relaxing. Keep it symmetrical, choosing clean lines in your furniture whenever possible. Part of minimalism is avoiding spaces that feel “busy,” which means keeping things symmetrical when possible. But does avoiding a “busy” space mean creating a boring space? Absolutely not!
Patterns and textures are a great way to keep things interesting and unique in a minimalist space. When sticking to neutrals and avoiding busy, asymmetrical lines it might feel like your options are limited when it comes to creating a space that’s interesting and unique.
